Many to thank for fine field

AFTER reading the letter 'Detractors' by Janet Dowle of Sling, may I on behalf of the Playing Fields Committee offer the following comments.

Through the commitment of both Gerald Dowle and our 'over 50s' Sling are lucky enough to have an award winning playing field. Their hard work and dedication over the last 15 years has enhanced the village.

If Gerald did not supply to us on a "sale or return" basis it would have been difficult for us to have raised sufficient funds for the work we have done. Many times we have been rained off during one of our fund raisers and Gerald has had to have all the items back at his expense.

Our 'detractors' are only very few – the village always takes a lot of knocks but we have terrific support from the majority. As a village we are all proud of our achievements and hope with continued support to carry on improving our facilities.
