LIVE donkeys are becoming the must-have accessory for Palm Sunday processions, and two led crowds of singing people through the streets of Parkend and Lydney.

St Mary's Church, Lydney welcomed Pedro the donkey with his owner Mike Perrett and walked from Lydney's cross to St Mary's Church, waving palm branches and singing hymns.

In Parkend, Blackberry the donkey walked ahead with Bradley and Billie-Jo Garratt-Freeman dressed up to accompany him.

The congregation tucked in to hot cross buns after the service.
