TWO Wyedean charities are among 300 organisations across the UK to benefit from a £3m giveaway.
The Freemasons are celebrating the 300th anniversary of their foundation by granting community awards based on a public vote.
Chepstow and District Mencap is one of four charities in Monmouthshire to receive an award and will benefit from a £15,000 pay-out to help its work.
Newent Association for the Disabled is one of six organisations to benefit in Gloucestershire, and will be boosted by a £4,000 award.
Chepstow and District Mencap provides services for adults with a learning disability aged 18 and over, with the aim of providing a variety of educational, work-based and leisure opportunities, where individuals can feel safe and supported in a purposeful and enjoyable environment.
Newent Association for the Disabled is the umbrella organisation for Sheppard House, Community Transport Service, Bathing and Therapeutic Services and its charity shop was founded in 1981 by Trudie Sheppard MBE.
Sheppard House day care centre was opened in July 1994 and provides care for elderly people with disabilities, with its primary aim to help older people achieve a better quality of life.
It is also a community hub used by a wide range of groups such as the WI, history society and yoga.
