A FUNDRAISING football match will be held to raise funds for a Yorkley man who suffers with a rare neurological disease.

Despite battling with multiple system atrophy (MSA) for the last year, Yorkley AFC chairman Mark Hudson helped raise £16,000 for Connor Ventris-Field, who has cerebral palsy, and needed a walking aid.

Now the tables have turned and Mark needs help, Yorkley Football Club is hosting a match and raffle/auction in his honour.

Mark’s wife, Porsche said: “Mark is not a well man at the moment and the football club, with his input, is hosting a fundraising match to raise funds for a few alterations around our home to make mobility a bit easier for him.

“Mark’s condition leads to premature death and can take away people’s ability to speak, move and control body functions. Mark is a proud man and doesn’t want any fuss but now he needs our help.

“Mark has been at the club for 16 years, first as a player then a manager and now as chairman. He loves the football club, but it is getting harder each week for him to attend.

“Some fundraising has already been done to get Mark a hydro pool at home as well as some alterations that need doing to make things a little easier for him to fight this disease, however we are still just short of the target.

“Anything raised over the target will be donated to the MSA trust to help with their fight to find a cure for this horrible disease.”

The event on Saturday, May 28 takes place at Yorkley Rec with kick-off around 1.30pm. There will also be a raffle/auction at the Nags Head pub.

Porsche added: “Please come along and make this a day Mark will never forget.”
