A YOUNG woman who has battled with crohn’s disease and colitis for the last seven years is doing a fundraising walk to raise awareness of the conditions.
Millie Williams, of Lydney, will be walking from the town centre to Gloucester Cathedral alongside at least 15 others on July 30.
The 24-year-old said: “I have been fighting crohn’s and colitis for the last seven years and find that not enough is done to raise awareness of Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
“The walk is about 26 miles and I hope to not only raise money but awareness too. In May 2014 I had to have emergency surgery resulting in me having a colostomy bag. It helped for a while but now the crohn’s has come back in my small bowel.
“I’m currently starting a blog which includes my story which led up to my operation. People can follow it at thewalkofdoom.weebly.com”
Crohn’s Disease is a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system or gut, while colitis is an inflammation of the lining of the colon.
Millie added: “So far I have raised £161 in just two weeks and my aim was £250. If anybody wishes to donate they can do so on JustGiving through liking my Facebook page – Fighting Crohns and Colitis – or calling me on 07429215518."
