I READ with some disbelief, a letter in the Review recently from ‘a local lass’ of Coleford, who wrote to complain that too many column inches are being wasted each week, debating the referendum and that this should cease.
As polling day approaches, we should have more debate in our local newspapers, not less.
This lady would prefer the Review to be used to discuss the pros and cons of whether a local chicken farmer will get planning permission for a new hen house, or for Mrs Blogs to thank someone for finding her lost cat.
Well, it takes all sorts I suppose.
I wonder if the likes of Cameron, Farage and Johnson lie awake at night, thinking that despite all their arguing and striving to do their best for the country, as far as ‘a local lass’ is concerned, debating Brexit is a complete waste of her time.
While we are on the subject of not debating important national issues, Averil Summers wrote to complain, that very little of substance is heard from the ‘stay’ campaign.
As if to prove her right, the Review printed four letters supporting the leave campaign and only one supporting stay. (week ending March 25)
This may be because stayers are less forthright than leavers – or perhaps they do not have Averil’s writing skills.
