THE NUMBER of passengers using local rail stations increased by more than 38,000 in just a year, latest figures reveal.

If the number of passengers changing trains at Severn Tunnel Junction is added the total the figure is nearly 64,000.

The figures just released by the Office of Rail Regulation cover 2010-2011 – before improvements to services at Chepstow.
