A BIG-hearted seven-year-old had a massive 16 inches of hair cut in aid of charity.

Leandra Gorgulu donated the hair to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for people with cancer.

The Lydney Church of England Primary School pupil was inspired after one of her mum’s friends was diagnosed with leukaemia.

The haircut took place at the Cream Xtendz salon in Lydney and was the latest in a number of fund-raising activities.

Leandra’s new look came courtesy of Amie Williams, a stylist who works at Oasis Hairdressing in Monmouth. She thanked Polly Johnson of Cream Xtendz for allowing her to use her salon.

Leandra said her new style looked “really good.”

Mum Kasia said: “In April one of my friends was diagnosed with leukaemia and Leandra wanted to help.

“Due to the chemotherapy, my friend lost all her hair and there was no doubt about what Leandra would do once she found out about this charity.

Leandra also asked for donations instead of birthday presents which raised £180.

Leandra said: “I’m very excited to be able to help another child.

“I hope someone will smile and get better quicker because of me.

“It’s very expensive to make a wig, so I would like to raise money to help to cover the costs,” she added.

Kasia has also set up a page on the Just Giving website with a target of £1,000 and donations are being taken until Saturday, January 20.
