Broadwell Res 2 Mushet and Coalway 2
TITLE chasing Mushet claimed two late goals to keep the pressure on Tidenham and Staunton and Corse – but for much of this competitive derby it was Broadwell who held the upper hand.
Typical of senior sides, Broadwell rarely field a settled team as First Xl calls disrupt fluency.
But Broadwell are well placed in mid-table and on their day can match any team in the league. They certainly looked confident and composed for much of this game and took an early lead with a goal by Gary Reddan to give them the half-time advantage.
Simon Roberts fired in number two on the hour and, if not quite cruising, Broadwell appeared to have this one in the bag.
But then came what Broadwell official Les Lewis called "a silly five minutes" – and that was all Mushet needed.
A defender conceded an own goal as a clearance shot off another player and into his own net and then the pressure told as Simon Morgan grabbed the equaliser.
"It was disappointing to drop the points but I have to say it was a good game with plenty of movement," said Lewis.
