MUSICIANS from the Wye Valley and Forest came together for a showcase concert at Chepstow Castle.
Members of the Chepstow Community Music Centre performed a wide range of styles from medieval madrigals to gospel, classical, rock and jazz.
Awards were presented by the Mayor of Chepstow Cllr Paul Pavia.
Music centre founder, Brian Ellam said: “The opportunity to hold a showcase concert in the castle was offered by Ned Heywood of the Chepstow Festival committee as a way of celebrating the first year of the centre’s existence.
“The purpose of the evening was three-fold: to provide a focal point for all the bands and choirs preparing their music to entertain the community; to recognise the enjoyment and achievement of individuals in their individual lessons throughout the year with awards and prizes and to showcase lots of ways that friends, family and members of the public can join in with active music-making in the future.”
Awards were presented by the Mayor of Chepstow, Cllr Paul Pavia.
He said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic. What has struck me is the wide range of abilities from those who are just starting to those who could be classed as semi-professional.”
