A CONCERT at Wyedean School showcased the talents of seasoned performers and musical debutants.
The school's Eisteddfod concert was opened by the Wyedean microjazz training band in their first public performance since they formed in January this year.
There were emotional but proud farewells to talented sixth-form students who were performing in their last concert at the school.
Among the highlights of the concert was a performance by the Chepstow Community Big Band of Eu Gusto de Semaforos which is Portuguese for I Like Traffic Lights.
The piece was composed by Wyedean student Josh Moon for his A-Level music exam and evokes the sounds of a busy South American city.
There was also a plea to back soloist Nataley Simpson in a vote for the Devauden Music Festival.
Three artists will be selected by public vote on the festival's Facebook page to perform at the event with the winner getting a recording session at the Monnow Valley Studio.
Also performing at the school concert were the Wyedean Choir and the Wyedean Gospel Choir who were both winners at the Mid Somerset Festival this year.
Awards were also presented for outstanding achievement. The winners were: John Hamilton (brass and most points in the Eisteddfod), Sophie Adams (strings), Ben Tucker (piano), Ollie Jenkins (woodwind), Dan Falber (vocals), Holly Riordan and Lucy Barnes (vocal ensemble), Josh Moon (composition).
