THE National Assembly for Wales's outreach team will be at Monmouthshire Show on August 30 with a view to getting more people involved in the law-making process in Wales.

The Assembly's outreach bus will be at the showground in Monmouth offering 'a wealth of interesting activities' to adults and children of all ages.

One of the highlights will be a 'Members' Wall' where visitors will be able to search for their Assembly Member on a large map of Wales and leave a message on an issue of their choice.

It could be a local issue or a suggestion for a new Welsh law. The information will then be fed back to the Member in question.

This initiative echoes the theme of the Assembly's photographic competition, 'Democracy in Action' which is aimed at encouraging amateur and professional photographers to submit images that reflect Wales during this exciting period in the history of Welsh devolution.

"Our outreach team will be providing a range of innovative and interesting activities at Monmouthshire Show aimed at hearing the views of the public on the work of the National Assembly," said the Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales, the equivalent of Westminster's Speaker, Rosemary Butler AM.

"The people of Wales voted overwhelmingly in favour of an Assembly with full law-making powers last year.

"Now we want people from all over the country to tell us what matters to them, so that Assembly Members and I can use these enhanced law-making powers to create legislation that reflects the wishes of everyone in Wales."
