ENTERPRISING Adam Pearce, 13, of Berry Hill, is setting up a newspaper crossword supply business with his home computer.

"I haven't sold any yet but I will keep sending them out," said Adam, who added that he hopes to be a journalist when he leaves school.

The Lakers pupil also has a go at solving all the crosswords he can find in newspapers.

"Sometimes they are a bit hard and I get stuck," he said. "But I like trying them all the same."

Adam lives at home with his parents and a little sister, aged two. His best subject at school is English and he hopes to go to college and study to be a newspaper journalist when he has taken his GCSEs and A-levels.

His puzzles business has just started, but his sales pitch to newspapers reads: "I was thinking I could supply the puzzles every week to go in your paper. I am very good on the computer and I promise I could have them ready on time or earlier."

He is sending it out with a sample of one of his crosswords and a tricky word puzzle. His adventurous spirit should stand him well when he starts working for newspapers.

"Who knows, I may be working for the Review," he said. "I'd like to do that."
