NEV Codlin, the winger who cost Lydney a 10 points deduction when it was discovered he did not have a British passport, played for Gloucestershire against Hertfordshire at Regents-
holme on Saturday.
"It's a mystery to me. I would have thought the same rules applied but apparently not," reflected Lydney team manager Colin Henderson. "In the end we did enough to stay in the league but it would have been much more comfortable without the loss of the 10 points. We have never blamed Nev but you can see from the fact that he was eligible to play for the county and not for Lydney how it is easy to get your wires crossed."
Gloucestershire featured a number of local players in Saturday's comfortable 26 - 3 Bill Beaumont Cup Division One South encounter. However they can expect a tougher encounter this week when they play Devon at Plymouth.
