ACCESS to the geologically important Huntley Geological Reserve has been improved.

The Gloucestershire Geology Trust has completed work on a new access gate for the site.

Part of the Huntley, Longhope and Hobbs Ridge Geowardens Project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the gate has been paid for by funds from the The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust Co.

The gate has been designed to allow people of restricted mobility to view the reserve and get access to the unique rocks that are exposed there.

The Geowarden's Project itself is nearing completion, having been set up in December 2011 with the main aim of recruiting local people to become 'geowardens' for the Huntley geological trail and reserve.

The work carried out by the geowardens group to date has allowed several events to take place, with the general public allowed access to the site for two days that included children's activities and guided walks.

Anyone wishing to have the new gate unlocked for them to access the reserve can contact the Trust on 01452 864438 or e mail [email protected]">[email protected]
