DILKE Memorial Hospital’s Minor Injuries and Illness Unit (MIIU) is set to reopen on Monday, August 14, following a six-week refurbishment project.
The unit boasts a new assessment and triage facility, a dedicated waiting room and play area for children and an improved reception area after work on the upgrades began on July 1.
Matron Cheryl Haswell said: “The team is grateful that people have been understanding during this period and have used alternative MIIUs or other services.
“I’m happy to say that we are planning to reopen Dilke MIIU on time as planned. We are extremely pleased with the result and I’m sure that people visiting the unit will appreciate all the work that has been done.”
The MIIU will re-open from 8am on Monday, August 14. In the meantime, patients can attend MIIU at Lydney and District Hospital, which is open from 8am to 11pm, or the MIIU at Tewkesbury Community Hospital, which is open from 8am to 8pm.
“MIIUs provide care and treatment for sprains, cuts and wounds, skin problems, minor eye injuries and minor fractures, as well as for illnesses such as chest infections, sore throats and minor infections and will see adults and children aged one and over,” Cheryl added.
Patients can find care advice at www.nhs.uk or www.asapglos.nhs.uk or dial 111 for non-emergency advice or out of hours GP service.
