ENERGY company E.on is considering nominating Oldbury as a site for a new nuclear power station.
The prospective site is on land next to the existing power station after the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority nominated the site.
E.ON says the proposals are in very early stages and they have not yet created any designs for the potential power plant.
The energy company is holding drop-in sessions in Oldbury this week to tell people about the Government's site selection process.
A letter has been sent to people living in Oldbury with details of the sessions and the government process, but at this early stage E.ON says it will not be holding consultations on this side of the River Severn.
Colin Scoins, director of development at E.ON said: "While our interest in Oldbury has been well-documented to date, at this stage, the Government is simply looking for companies to nominate sites that could be strategically suitable for new nuclear plants.
"We are however committed to working with the local community as we look to firm up our plans, and that's why we want to give everyone the opportunity to have their say and ask any questions before any decisions are taken on potential proposals for Oldbury."
There will be drop in sessions at Oldbury-on-Severn Memorial Hall on Wednesday this week and at Cossham Hall, Thornbury on Friday, 8am to 8pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
