A BROKEN arm has done nothing to deter the new head at St Anthony's School, Cinderford, from starting the year with energy and enthusiasm.
Sister Louise was sent from the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Glasgow to take the place of popular former head Sister Celestine.
She said: "When they told me I was coming to Cinderford I was absolutely shocked, as I had retired in the summer.
"Now I'm here it's lovely and the children are all wonderful. It is a very nice school which has very firm foundations.
"Within the first week of being here I fell off a table while I was hanging curtains and broke my arm. It was at the top so I'm really immobile at the moment."
Deputy head Mrs Julie Jones will be helping Sister Louise with the curriculum as different courses are followed in Scotland.
Sister Louise has 35 years of experience in teaching and is very well prepared for her new role at St Anthony's.
"The school has been extremely successful and very well run so it would be stupid to come in and change all that, but I will have a talk with the parents to see if they have any suggestions for improvements.
"We have changed the name of the school so it doesn't include the word 'Convent', as this might make people think it is just for girls, or just for Catholics which is definitely not the case!"
