I am writing this letter following a recent visit to Cannop Ponds.

Six years ago my mother died. She was 42 years-old. My family had a bench placed at cannop in a beautiful position overlooking the pond. I often visit and sit and remember the lovely times I spent there with her.

Last Wednesday I visited and was deeply shocked and upset to find that somebody had placed a barbecue on it and badly burnt the seat and used the cinders to form the shape of a cross.

Who are these people?

And how could they desecrate property like that without a care for their actions? These vandals have no respect for anyone or anything. Perhaps they are lucky enough to still have their mother/s, so therefore a seat with initials carved into it means nothing to them, but I can tell them it means a hell of a lot to my family and to me.

I feel very upset and let down by the society we live in.

I hope that you print this to highlight to these thoughtless vandals how their actions affect other people. – Kate Hammond, Woodgate Road, Cinderford.
