MY response to Nigel Cann 'Construction Director for EDF at Hinkley' and his letter entitled 'Safety is our priority.' EDF is currently £34 Billion in debt. Whose money do you plan to drizzle over North Somerset as a sweetener? The taxpayer's?

In 2003 the nuclear industry was bailed out by the taxpayer for an undisclosed sum. After 60 years of trading it is clearly time you stood on you own two feet, In 1958 you promised my Grandmother free electricity from Berkeley Power Station by the year 2000 – more spin than your turbines, clearly adept in spin even then, despicable.

EDF, before you throw more of our money on your latest initiative, demonstrate your commitment to your words 'Safety is our priority' by dashing to Fukushima with all your top brass and shareholders, put on your protective radiation suits and clean up that mess. Once you have achieved this, dash back home and put on your protective wet suits and fish out every last radioactive container dumped in the Irish sea from 1950 – 1993 – by your industry, yes right up to 1993!

Then you can concentrate on the world's first decommissioning process at Berkeley Power Station, which we would all like to see.

EDF only when you have cleaned up behind yourself, should we ever consider applications at a planning level.

EDF having the odd powercut from time to time does not kill you. In fact the opposite. People do not fear the lights going out, it's just a fear campaign to permit the impermissible. The only ones who fear powercuts are politicians, bankers and traders.

EDF, so much tech, yet so little wisdom, tech equals dependency, not a good idea in any age.

If you can hear, change over to ethical electricity and develop skills to rely less on the stuff.

Investment in British renewables would give meaning and purpose to people. Let's not waste the dawn, after all the French already have 58 reactors of there own to deal with, so why allow them permission to build more in Britain? Mindless corruption, built on a foundation of short term self interest, no doubt.

EDF zero carbon, the audacity beggars belief. Your words are as toxic as your product.

Nuclear power depends entirely on a long term stable environment, literarily, socially and economically, all of which are quickly disappearing.

EDF, look at Defra's Flood Report 2012.

EDF, nuclear power is outdated. Put your house in order, take responsibility for your actions. Get on with it.
