ALONG with other councils Lydney Town Council has been asked by Gloucestershire Lord-Lieutenant Dame Janet Trotter to select a guest for a royal reception when the Earl and Countess of Wessex visit Cheltenham on June 22.

Council chief executive Jayne Smailes is seeking applications and nominations to the mayor for the honour which must be received by Tuesday, May 29.

Dame Janet writes: "We are asking parish councils to put forward someone who would like to attend and who has some connection with the number 60."

The interpretation of the connection will be "open minded" she says and therefore open to all age groups.

Dust off the dress suits and gowns (the successful selection can bring a partner), somebody is out there looking...and if there's a knock on the door, it could be you!
