SOME of us laughed at Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon playing two mismatched roommates – each seeing life through their limited visions – in the classic 1960’s comedy The Odd Couple.

We might be forgiven today if we are less than amused by the ‘limited visions’ now on offer from the ‘odd couples’ fronting the BSE – that’s Britain Stronger in Europe, not mad cow disease – campaign to keep us tied to nanny Junker’s EU apron strings.

When ‘odd couplings’ like Messrs Cameron and Corbyn, or Soames and Mandelson, or Harper and Winterton ‘roommate’ for the purpose of promoting the people’s submission to over-paid oligarchs embedded in an outdated bureaucracy in Brussels, it ceases to be a laughing matter.

And a touch of insurrection, like challenging the decaying status quo and voting to leave, seems what the doctor’s ordered.

We’ve been here before – in 1258 Simon de Montfort challenged Henry lll; in 1642 Oliver Cromwell challenged Charles l; in 1838 the Chartists challenged Lord Melbourne; and in 1940 Winston Churchill challenged Adolf Hitler.

Cometh the hour cometh the man.

On Thursday, June 23 2016 your hour will come to challenge the ruling elite and, by using your imagination, disable the deceitful charge of the ‘I’m in light-brigade’ because, as William Blake said, ‘the imagination… is human existence itself.’

By voting to leave, we shall free ourselves from a corrupt and sclerotic EU and once again light a beacon of hope for ourselves and for democracy and freedom.

Make June 23 Independence Day.
