STAFF at the Howle Hill Nursery are over the moon after picking up their ninth gold medal at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.
The prestigious show which attracts entrants from across the world, featured Peter Dowle's show garden, 'After the Fire', designed by French-based English designer James Basson of Scape Design, in the fresh garden section.
And clearly judges were impressed with the Ross-based garden centre's efforts as Peter and his team were also awarded a 'Best in Category'.
Their success follows on after a successful gold medal and 'Best in Show' win at the The Malvern Spring Show only two weeks ago.
Peter and his team were largely involved in the construction and planting of the show garden. He said: "This garden is based on regeneration after forest fires that can devastate acres of woodland, particularly in the South of France. Over time, regeneration creates spectacular new growth within a stark burnt landscape.
"The basic concept is a charcoal mulch at ground level, with vivid bright green plants (which always grow back first following a fire) creating a sharp contrast. Burnt tree trunks add to the effect. A trodden pathway leads to some natural terracotta boulders that form seats.
"This garden makes a bold statement, showing nature's incredible ability to regenerate and the beauty that exists in burnt-out landscapes. Our offices on Howle Hill helped in the sourcing of the charcoal, which of course played such a crucial part in creating the ambience of the garden.
"We are both shocked and delighted with another prestigious award to go alongside gold and best in show at Malvern - truly deserved acclaim for all of the hard work the whole team has contributed over the last few months."
