CHEPSTOW's new-look library opens its doors to the public for the first time on Saturday.

There will be a day of special events in the library in Manor Way to celebrate the re-opening.

Around a quarter of the library's stock of 20,000 books, DVDs and talking books is new and they will be phased in over a period of time.

Opening hours are being extended with the library open on Wednesday mornings.

There will also be free wi-fi access and laptops for use in the library.

Other features include an updated children's area and another especially for teenagers.

There will also be a reading garden which will be opened on Word Book Night, April 23.

Weekly activities at the library will include basic computer sessions, story time for the under-fives, baby rhyme times and family history research sessions.

The library opens at 9am on Saturday with balloon modelling all morning and the chance to find out about the Chepstow Collection from the Chepstow Society between 10am and noon.

The Chepstow branch of the Gwent Family History will be available to answer your family history questions between 10am and noon and story-teller Daniel Morden will be on hand with stories for seven- to 11-year-olds between 11am and noon.
