Relax, put your feet up and enjoy yourselves! We know well enough that such a simple pleasure will not be available to everyone and to those who will miss out – for whatever reason – it is still our wish that at some time on Christmas Day or over the holiday break you will find a little peace and contentment.

All of us on the Review would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley a happy and peaceful Christmas, a contented and rewarding New Year.

For many, the last year has been tough. The Review is only possible because of the income we receive from advertisers. Without their loyal support there would be no paper so we have good reason to thank all those who spend their money with us.

In return we hope we give value for that investment. We like to think we do, and our readership surveys tell us that the Review remains as popular as ever. That is why our readers are so vital.

Living in a largely rural environment we have to rely heavily upon those who, in all winds and weather, deliver the Review. No service is ever going to be perfect, but we do try our best to be as efficient and reliable as possible.

So a great big thank you to the distributors – we could be advertising the best and cheapest cars in the world and be carrying a world-shattering page one story but if the paper doesn't clatter through the letterbox then we all miss out. It's a great jigsaw, and the same for every newspaper in the land – your paper deliverer is just as important as the editor (most people would say more so, because if the editor never turned up there would still be a paper!)

For next year we shall endeavour to continue to produce a lively and interesting paper – and to stir the pot when we consider a stir is needed!

Again, our very best wishes and grateful thanks.
