A GROUP of Tutshill parents who have signed a petition calling for an end to dog-mess menace on routes near the local school are angry after anti-fouling posters were torn down.
"We hate it. It gets on pram and buggy wheels and on children's hands and shoes. We said enough is enough and called the dog warden in," said Robin Beresford, spokesperson for the group.
"He advised us to advertise the problem and we formed a group and collected 50 signatures, many of them young parents with children at the school. We have had flyers printed too and have given them out, and we had some of the warnings featuring a dog and a message which we put up on posts in the area.
"They were specially laminated to make them last but they disappeared within a couple of hours.
"I went round and put up more in their place and now these have vanished too. We are very angry and upset about it – apart from the expense of having them made there is all the trouble we have gone to to put them up.
"The irony is we are not against responsible dog owners – many of the people who signed the petition are dog owners, and I am a dog owner myself."
Mrs Beresford said she had two boys aged nine and five who went to the school and a 19-month-old toddler who would eventually go to playgroup. The mess in the area was particularly bad and she wanted whoever was destroying the posters to stop and think about their actions and the harm dog-mess could do.
