FOR all those people that live in the Forest of Dean and pay Council Tax in that catchment area, could they be issued with a parking permit, to put on a windscreen should they have a car, therefore obtaining free parking, which seems to be what is required.

Then all the revenue from parking can come from visitors to the area, of which we have many each year, to me it seems like a win - win situation. Agreed the Council will not make as much as desired, but at least some money will be collected, rather than giving free parking for everyone.
