TEAMS from Whitecross School came away from the first British Schools Sports Aerobics Championship covered in glory.
Whitecross – the only Gloucestershire school to take part in the Birmingham championships – entered two teams in the under-16s.
"They had to perform a powerful one-minute, 32 second routine incorporating set moves including free fall push-ups, splits and high kicks marked on levels of execution and difficulty," said coach Lynne Garner.
The 'Fusion' team – Laura Turley, Eloise Vine and Louise Hale – made their way to the plate final and missed the bronze medal by half a mark to take fourth place.
'Gym Jams' – Gemma Goode, Gemma Dunford and Chez Dunmford – powered their way to the main final with two performances of sheer artistic brilliance to come second overall and take silver.
"Whitecross are delighted with the girls' achievements and eagerly await next year's competition," said Lynne, who trained the teams with Whitecross head of PE Jackie Longton.
