PUPILS raised more than £660 which will go towards sponsoring three guide dog puppies.

Youngsters at St John’s on-the-Hill School in Tutshill, Chepstow, raised the cash by dressing up in neon clothing and taking part in fun games, a cake sale and a raffle.

Frank Greig, community fundraising officer from Guide Dogs Cymru, visited the school with Hilary Lester and her guide dog Yelena to give a special assembly earlier this month.

Lynne Summerfield, head of learning support at St John’s, said: “This was a lovely opportunity to hear about the work the charity does and how it changes lives.

“The money raised will go towards sponsoring a class of three puppies, and the children are very excited to find out how the puppies get on with training and will keep up-to-date with their progress.”
