I WOULD like to bring to the attention of readers the dangers of stopping vehicles to photograph animals. There are occasions when drivers suddenly appear to lose their brain cells when they spot a boar or a deer on the roadside.

Returning from a day out, I was climbing the hill from Brierley towards Coleford when the van ahead of me stopped suddenly on the brow of the hill. The hazard lights were put on and the driver jumped out holding a camera and walked a couple of yards to take a photograph of a pig!

Drivers could not see if any vehicles were approaching and could not pass the van. The irresponsible driver was not only putting his own life in danger but the lives of other road users.

If people want to take photographs, then that's fine. But find a safe place to pull in.

If the animal has gone it is not the end of the world. But it could be if someone is seriously hurt or even killed.

I hope I can get this message across before it is too late.
