AROUND 1,000 plastic ducks were dropped from the new Wye Bridge at Chepstow in the annual fund-raiser for the Severn Area Rescue Association on Saturday (July 27).

Around 200 people gathered on the riverside to watch the race and see a demonstration of rescue techniques.

SARA crew played the roles of hapless boaters who end up in the River Wye and had to be ‘rescued’

The event raised £700 for SARA.

SARA spokesman Richard New-house said: “We are the local lifeboat service so it is always a pleasure to show it off to local people.”
