HIGH standards of patient care have contributed to the award of Queen's Nurse to Michelle Jarvis, co-owner and manager of the Manor House Care Village at Longhope.
Michelle received her award at a ceremony organised by the community nursing charity, The Queen's Nursing Institute. She was one of 35 nurses nationwide presented with a certificate and QN badge by Rosalynde Lowe CBE, chair of the QNI.
After a gap of 40 years, the title was reintroduced in 2007 as a response to the new challenges facing community nursing and to help safeguard and promote high standards of patient care. Nurses who hold the title benefit from development workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities and a shared professional identity.
QNI director Rosemary Cook said: "Congratulations are due to Michelle for her success. Community nurses operate in an ever more challenging world and our role is to support them as effectively as we can. The QN title is a key part of this and we would encourage other community nurses to apply."
