FOREST pro boxer Chris Higgs has emerged bruised, bleeding but successful after his latest 'learning curve' fight.
Lydney-based Higgs, 21, fought his way to a points victory – 40 to 36 – over the vastly experienced Karl Taylor at Swindon's Oasis Centre on Friday. It was his third successive victory as a professional.
Over 100 supporters cheered Higgs' victory.
Afterwards his father and trainer Bryan described the fight as important for Chris's development.
"There's still a long way to go, but Chris won plenty of praise. The officials described him as very good for his age and said they were confident he would progress," said Bryan.
He added that Karl Taylor, who had previously fought both Ricky Hatton and his brother Matthew, described Chris as a young boxer with very quick hands.
