RESIDENTS on a Lydney estate claim a new housing scheme is being railroaded through without proper consultation.

They say every householder on Primrose Hill should be asked for their comments on the plan which includes a new roundabout being built at one of the busiest road junctions in the town.

"There's not enough consultation. There are a lot of factors to be considered here but so far all our views have been ignored.

"The impression is we are being railroaded and it seems there is nothing we can do to stop it,' said Paul Howell.

Mr Howell said everyone living in Cherry Walk, Lydney, opposed the plan which is to build four starter homes and four detached properties on land linking Springmeadow to Cherry Walk. A roundabout would be created on the junction of Spring Meadow and Springfield Road.

"It doesn't add up. There are a lot of unanswered questions about visibility and road widths but no-one seems prepared to listen," he said.

Mr Howell said the scheme would increase road dangers in Cherry Walk and destroy a haven for wildlife.

"There are many issues – wildlife, road safety, security and flooding – in addition to the problems which will be created round the chapel and on the roads by the loss of parking.

"At the moment officials are passing the buck but we don't intend to let this matter rest," he said.
