THE Misbah Tandoori restaurant in Priory Street, Monmouth, is delighted after being listed in the top 100 in the prestigious Good Curry Guide.
Overjoyed owner Mr D Miah said it was wonderful to be able to start the year with good news.
"It is fantastic – it means that out of 10,000 restaurants in Britain we have been picked in the top of the list," he said.
"The guide gave us great praise too, stating 'restaurants like these is what this guide is all about'. You can't do better than that!"
Mr Miah, who has dozens of faithful regulars in the Monmouth and Forest area, said the guide's restaurant inspectors worked in secret, never revealing their identity to the establishments they were putting to the test.
"Some of the boys came in once and said they thought there were inspectors in the restaurant but you can never really know for sure," he said.
The guide judges restaurants on standards of hygiene, service and friendliness – as well as the quality of curries and tandoori dishes.
