RESURFACING works on a road in Cinderford take place in less than two weeks time.

Highways crew will remove and completely re-lay Ruspidge Road between Wednesday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 29.

Due to the size of the machinery and to protect the workforce and the travelling public, it will be necessary to close the road to traffic each week day from 7.30am until 5.30pm.

The closure will begin at the junction with St Whites Road and run up to the junction with Tramway Road.

Outside of these hours, and at the weekend, the road will be open as usual.

A diversion will be in place via Cinderford and Upper Soudley. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.

School buses will be escorted through the work.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "I’d like to thank local people for their patience while we get the new road surface put down."

Cllr Graham Morgan, local county councillor for Cinderford, added: "I welcome these improvements for Ruspidge Road and I’m glad to see that arrangements have been made for the school buses to be allowed through the work zone."
