THE MAKERS of a new TV series want to take over more of the former warehouse in Chepstow where it was filmed for a possible second series.
The first episode of Atlantis, which is screened on BBC, pulled in 5.8 million viewers.
Urban Myth Films was given permission earlier this year to convert part of the former Tesco cold store on the Newhouse Industrial Estate and the company has now approached Monmouthshire County Council to convert the rest of the building.
"The new use of the building is intended to be a temporary use, specifically for the production of the new TV show, which it is hoped may run for five years or more.
"However, the funding for all future series is secured as yet and it is therefore unclear how long the temporary use might endure,' states a letter to the council from agents working on behalf of Urban Myth.
The first series of the show was filmed on sets in Chepstow and in Morocco. If a second series is confirmed filming would start in the new year.
A second series would require more and larger sets and more space would be needed at the Chepstow location.
All filming will take place inside the building and there are no plans to create external sets or lighting outside.
Filming employs around 70 people on each crew and there are often two crews on the site although there can be more when there is a large number of extras for crowd scenes.
It is hoped that a second series will be confirmed soon which will mean 'an even more significant investment in the local economy from the TV company, which will secure hundreds of local jobs.'
