THE response to an appeal in last week's Review for dog food to help a Forest pet rescue centre was simply 'overwheming' says the centre boss.

"I had no idea people could be so generous," said Helen Szuluk, who runs the centre with the help of Jan Borrett.

Helen made the appeal as the numbers of dogs in her care soared – many of them abandoned but an increasing number being handed over because their owners can no longer afford to look after them.

"I would really like to thank everyone who gave us such a lovely lot of food. You have all been very kind," she said.
