SHED and shop break-ins have risen by more than a quarter in the Forest, say police.
Thefts from four sheds in Drybrook, Mitcheldean and Lydney have been reported recently, with thieves getting away with power tools, garden equipment and bicycles.
Newsagents and pharmacies in Coleford and Lydney have also been targeted, with thieves escaping with cigarettes and perfume.
Police say 33 break-ins were reported in September compared with 26 in the same period last year. Lydney Community Sergeant Carl Bourne said: "While crime is generally very low in the Forest this is, perhaps, a good time for local companies and residents to review their security."
Police also say they are analysing locations and patterns to determine if any of the burglaries are related.
Sgt Bourne added: "These break-ins are concerning and in each case officers have been reviewing CCTV and forensic opportunities as well as making local inquiries. Obviously we are looking into whether any of the cases are linked."
Police advise making it harder for thieves to enter gardens by planting prickly plants and fitting home security alarms.
