Berry Hill 22
Cambourne 13
HOLD on to your hats if you intend to drop in at Lakers Road and watch Berry Hill in action this season.
That's the advice of the club's player coach Lee Osborne who says his young team often live on the edge.
"Where older hands would cut out the risks and kick to touch these boys chance their arms. It's good and bad. If it comes off it looks good but if things go wrong you can end up under tremendous pressure," said Osborne.
However he remains upbeat and optimistic about the season ahead.
"There are a few old heads but mainly youngsters and we are unbeaten having drawn at Brixham and deserving our win over Camborne. There are some strong teams in this league but I would like to think we can end up in the top five," he said.
Osborne, who coaches the team with former Gloucester star Ady Powles, believes the winning run will be extended at Cheltenham North this Saturday.
Osborne was encouraged by last Saturday's victory over the Cornishmen although it was not an entirely convincing performance.
"Unfortunately last week's game was called off and it was a bit like starting the season all over again. It was a bit stop-start but there were some useful performances," he said.
Osborne was full of praise for the experienced Mark Graham who played well in the loose and punched some big holes in the Camborne defence. He also praised 19 year-old prop Luke Hunter and stand-in captain Ben Lewis, also 19.
"Club captain Paul Hunt dropped out with a knee injury and Ben took over at the last minute. He shouldered the responsibility well," said Osborne.
Lewis's reward for a committed performance was Berry Hill's opening try. Others were scored by Greg Alexander and Mark Graham with Osborne himself kicking two penalties and a conversion.
