YOUNGSTERS have angered people in Lydbrook by damaging and throwing around a wreath laid at the village war memorial on Remembrance Day.

Lydbrook parish council chairman Denise Hogan said she was "fuming" after finding one wreath in the middle of the road.

"There were poppies from the wreath all the way along the pavement. A car had run over the wreath and it was very badly damaged," she said.

Mrs Hogan said she felt a mixture of anger and sadness at the discovery.

""It really isn't good enough. It is mindless vandalism and I'm afraid it was carried out by some of the youngsters who attended the village Youth Cafe.

"There was some bad behaviour in the village on Thursday night - they even lifted up one car and turned it round," she said.

Mrs Hogan said the matter would be discussed at a meeting of the parish council.

"Vandalism like this is unacceptable and it would be a matter of regret if it ended in the closure of the Youth Cafe," she said.
