SCARECROWS based on children’s cartoon characters will be on display at English Bicknor Summer Fete this Saturday (July 9).

The Minions and Peppa Pig are among the creations that will certainly delight visitors at the village hall from 2pm.

The brainchildren behind the Minion character are Phil and Daphne Gwilliam while Pegga Pig was made by Kate Fyffe. There is still time to enter the scarecrow competition. Bring it along to the arena by 2pm.

Kate said: “As it is a traditional English country fete, you will find refreshments including tea and cake, strawberries and cream as well as a barbecue.

“There will also be games, stalls and a flower, fruit and vegetable competition. Among the unusual activities to do are baa draughts, China smash and milk a cow challenge.”

Monmouth Band will play traditional music as well as some pieces from Disney children’s films during the afternoon.
