A CHEPSTOW teaching assistant has raised more than £1,500 for a children’s hospital after having her head shaved.

Joanne Cawley, who works at Pembroke Primary in Bulwark, raised the money for the Noah’s Ark appeal after the Cardiff hospital treated a pupil for cancer.

She said: "With help from ex-army colleagues, friends and all the staff and children from Pembroke Primary, I raised £1,551.

On the last day of term in July, colleague Kat Slade shaved Mrs Cawley’s hair.

The week before, children in her Year Five class had cut her hair.
