A TOP New Zealand tennis coach shared his secrets with enthusiasts at this year’s Lydney Tennis Club’s Great British Tennis Weekend.
People of all ages and abilities, including non-members, enjoyed a two-day event playing the summer sport.
On Sunday Mark Milburn held a 90-minute coaching session.
Julia Goss at the club said: “Much fun was had by all. The perfect weather conditions also made the event a great success.”
There was an open courts’ social tennis session before things hotted up with a mixed-age group tournament which saw dads play against their children. The senior section was won by Tommy Wilkins and his dad Adam while Rachel James and her dad Neil won the younger group.
Players also enjoyed a new activity: Rachael’s touch tennis tournament, which involved playing on a small court with a small racket and soft balls and is basically a compressed version of the standard game but with only one serve and no lets.
The first touch tennis champ was Jason Wong and William Trigg was the junior champ.
Julia added: “Many thanks to the helpers who contributed to this successful weekend and special thanks to Rachael Wintle and her son Jason.”
