SINGERS and musicians serenaded Christmas shoppers with a free concert in the centre of Chepstow on Saturday.
Tutors from Hannah's Music in Moor Street, Chepstow were joined by their students and pupils from St Andrew's Primary School in Newport next to the Christmas tree in Beaufort Square for seasonal music.
The students were Tilly Harris and Karen Chadwick on saxaphone, singer Phoebe Clutten, Joanne Spense Thomas on the flute and guitarist Dylan Hannon – who only decided to take part during a lesson on Saturday morning.
The tutors were Ian Luther who teaches guitar and who performed one of his own Christmas songs, flute and piano teacher Rebecca Hemming and piano and voice coach Greg Pritchard, a Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist.
Saturday also saw free parking in Monmouthshire Council car parks in the town – the last of the free parking days will be this Saturday.
The concert was organised in conjunction with Chepstow Marketing which includes the Chepstow Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is organising a late night shopping event in the town on Thursday, December 20.
Most shops in the town centre – including national names such as Boots and WH Smith – will be open and there will also be music, stalls and Father Christmas.
Chamber secretary Nikki Colley-Priest, who has brought local businesses together with the help of Lucy Fear of Chepstow Creates, said: "There is going to be so much going on.
"I'm delighted with everyone's enthusiasm and I'm sure it is going to be a super evening."
