Further to your article in the Review, one simple solution is to erect poles on opposite sides of the road 200 yards, or so on the approaches to each

bridge, at a height suitable for each bridge.

Devices to send and receive a beam across the road can be attached to the poles.

When the beam is broken by lorries that are too high, flashing red lights, with a sign saying “Stop, too high”, on or just before the bridge, will be activated.
