CINDERFORD singer-songwriter Cici-Rose went back to school recently to record a chorus for her charity single Unstoppable due for release this Friday, June 30.

Cici-Rose, whose real name is Christina O’Carroll, is releasing the single to raise funds for Young Minds and Kids Run Free.

She went to St Anthony’s Primary School and told the Review: “With it being my old primary school, I really wanted the children to feature on the track, as this was initially where I began singing when I was younger and the charities both support kids’ and young people’s health.

“About a week after the initial meeting, I returned to the school with equipment to record the children singing, with my producer Tom Browning. A few of the teachers at the school joined us, with roughly 15 children from all different ages, reception up to Year Six.

“It was during this time after we set up that I taught the children the chorus of the song and had them singing it for the recording. We did a few takes of it and they all did a fantastic job, it was lovely to see them all smiling, singing along and enjoying being a part of this project.”

Chris Powell, interim deputy head at St Anthony’s, said: “When Cici-Rose approached us to involve the children from her old primary school we were delighted and jumped at the chance to feature on a charity single.

“We’ve heard the song and it’s fantastic. We’re also really proud to be helping support two charities that are doing such great work for kids around the country. We can’t wait for the launch this week.”

The single, recorded at the Auraphonic Studio in the Forest and finalised at the famous Abbey Road studios in London, is to be released as a download. Find out more at www.cicirose.com/unstoppable

“As a child I learnt ways to cope with family mental illness, but there are more people than ever now that need support,” Ci-Ci added.

“I wanted to write a song that would inspire and drive people to believe in themselves no matter what battles they are facing and to go after their goals and aspirations in life. I really hope I can help others with the message of this song and raise awareness for these two great charities.”
