MORE than 70 per cent of Parliamentary constituencies in Britain voted to get out of the EU, although many MPs representing those constituencies did not.
The majority of those who voted out did so to regain Britain’s independence from the EU and to be able to control our borders.
It had been known well before the referendum that the Single Market and freedom of movement of EU citizens were linked together.
The position was made clear repeatedly by EU leaders from the beginning and the situation will not change.
Terms such as hard and soft Brexit are meaningless in this context.
The British public understands the situation well and are wondering how intelligent MPs like Anna Soubry and others are still crying blue murder and demanding that Britain’s negotiating position be discussed openly in public.
Those shouting out loud from the sidelines should realise that the British Public wanted out, not to be in some half-way house, and is prepared to pay the price.
They also know that the situation is not all bleak and that Britain will re-establish its pole-position in the wider world following an initial period of re-adjustment.
