During their end of school term assembly 24 Year Five and Six pupils, who took part in Two Rivers Housing's first junior warden scheme, were presented with certificates.
The year-long project was designed to improve the neighbourhood around the school and supported by the Street Wardens at Forest of Dean District Council and Gloucestershire Police.
Some of the issues they have tackled include litter-picking, street inspections, and monitoring the speed of motorists in one of the busy roads close to the school. "This has been a brilliant start to our Junior Warden scheme," said Jon Coe, director of customer services at Two Rivers Housing, who presented the certificates.
"Two Rivers is keen to create positive communities where people like to live and, thanks to the enthusiasm of the children, and superb support from the staff at St John's, the Street Wardens and the police, I believe we have all helped to achieve that in Coleford."
Deputy head, Julie Griffiths added: "The scheme has raised awareness of local issues. The children have looked forward to their work in the community and have taken their responsibilities very seriously. My thanks go to everyone involved in the project."
Two Rivers Housing will return to St John's next term to work with another group of children, whilst extending the project to include schools in Cinderford and Newent.
