Fire-hit family grateful for
"extraordinary" responseThe event was organised by Elaine Cruickshank from Mitcheldean to raise funds for the CUP Foundation, which supports sufferers of cancer of unknown primary (CUP).
Elaine said: “My husband died in June of CUP, the name given when it is not known where the cancer started. I have raised thousands of pounds over many years for local cancer related charities and this time I had help from Gill Matthews, Michelle Goodfield and Nora Powell, who provided a wide selection of home made food. Support on the day came from Josie Malpass, Maisie Bailey, Pat Potter, Mary Elsmore, Jayne Hashmat and Phoebe Goodfield.
“The event was attended by 85 people and we were entertained by Rosemary Morgan, 2015 Forest Bard. Raffle prizes were provided by many volunteers and the Co-op store was also very generous. Funds were also generated from a silent auction with Wye Leisure at Fownhope being a generous contributor.”
